Qualifications and Experience
In 1998 I undertook my first professional qualification in Registered Mental Health nursing,(RMN) at St Martin's College, Lancaster. Since that time i have worked in a multitude of different clinical settings developing therapeutic interventions for service users and their families, in NHS, prison service and private sector.
In 2004 I undertook a Bsc(Hons) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, at St Martin's College, which helped develop my skills and knowledge when treating people within a CBT framework.
After this I gained several years experience working in both the private and public sector, providing structured Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to individuals who have experienced a variety of mental health problems.
In 2010 completed an MSc in Advanced Psychosocial Interventions at The University of Manchester, which further ehanced and developed my skills and knowledge base in CBT for complex mental health problems.
I have undertaken courses in providing supervision for other practitioners and in 2010 and 2011 I assisted with the supervision on the Post Graduate High Intensity IAPT course at Lancaster University.
In 2011 I provided lectures / seminars for thoses studying on the IAPT course at Lancaster University in CBT assessment and formulation, social anxiety and co-morbidity in CBT.
In September 2011, I became a clinical tutor at The University of Liverpool providing teaching and support to clinicians undertaking the Post Graduate IAPT course, the training course that enables trainees to provide structured CBT therapy to clients across a range of disorders.
In October 2012 I completed the third part of my, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, (EMDR) training. I have submitted by application for membership with the EMDR association UK and Ireland.
In 2014 I provided supervision to students undertaking the CYP-IAPT children training course at the University of Salford.
In 2015 and 2016 I continued to develop my practice in Lancaster . Additional to this I have been supervising trainees undertaking courses in CBT at the University of Bolton.
In 2017 I completed a five day training programme looking at the development of advanced supervision skills within CBT.
I am constantly updating my skills and knowledge base by attending conferences and workshops to ensure that my clients receive the most up to date treatment possible. Moreover I undertake regular supervision to ensure that the treatment I provide is within both current guidelines and theoretical approaches.
At present I am one of only a hand full of fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the BABCP, working in the Lancaster area.
To date, I have successfully under taken work with many different rehabilitation type organisations. I have fostered strong links within them over many years and all have been complimentary about the treatment I provide.
